Over the weekend the internet’s favourite baby boy, Saltburn star Jacob Elordi has allegedly been caught up in a little old fashion biffo with KIIS FM radio station employee and TikTokker Joshua Fox. You can take the boy outta Queensland but you can’t take the Queensland outta the boy.

Fox apparently bailed up the 26-year-old Elordi while he was out drinking with mates at the Coogee Bay Hotel and, according to his own account, was attacked by Elordi who wasn’t too pleased that he couldn’t enjoy a beer without some idiot trying to get content out of him.

No, I’m not even going to pretend to be impartial on this one. The simple fact is: if you’re going to be a pain in the proverbial, what do you expect from people?

As a journalist, I’ll admit there’s a certain competitiveness that comes with job. We love to break a story, get our name on something new or fascinating and be the first over the finishing line. Fox isn’t a journalist. He’s barely entertaining. The dude became famous for crashing MAFS weddings. Wow, I’m impressed.

He’s also admitted that he hurtled down to the location specifically because he heard Elordi was there. It wasn’t just a coincidence–he chose to actively intrude on the guy’s night. Perhaps thinking it might redeem him, Fox has even played audio from the encounter during a segment on KIISFM. He can be heard going up to the actor and apparently handing him a jar to fill with his bathwater and send to the radio’s studios.

Elordi can be heard saying “You’re kidding,” before asking “Are you filming?” After confirming he was, Elord then pleaded “Can you not man, please?”

The entire confrontation highlights the ever-present tension between public figures trying to enjoy private moments and the media’s quest for the next big story. Again, calling Fox a media representative is a stretch.

Police are looking into the matter after reports surfaced of an alleged assault outside the hotel. The altercation didn’t result in any injuries and nor has Fox actually filed a report with the police.

To be clear, violence is never the solution in any circumstances no matter how shit the behaviour of some social media troll. But how hard can it be to let someone enjoy a pint and realise you’re not the main character for a change?
