Everything

Since ditching the tight-fit costume of Captain America, Chris Evans has proven that he’s still every bit the superhero in the menswear department. After delivering not one but two viral knitwear moments (and single-handedly reviving the crusty cable knit) the 41-year-old is spearheading the return of another classic piece of menswear: the polo shirt.
The polo – the passport to achieving both perfect prep and yuppy style – has become something of the off-duty cape for former superheroes. Both Spider-Mans Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield were seen sporting one, as was MCU antagonist turned anti-hero Sebastian Stan as well as MCU (former) sorcerer supreme Benedict Cumberbatch.

Interestingly, it seems they all have a brand of choice too: English label Percival. Their range of elevated casuals are the perfect decibel or two above standard “quiet luxury” (but also, let’s call it what it is: minimalism with a fancy name). When Evans wore their Impressionist short sleeve polo last year, it was an instant sell out. Thankfully, they’re had a restock recently so have at.

Despite it’s strong heritage, the polo took a dive in the clout stakes after it became the symbol of metrosexual style in the early 00s. Popped collars, layered, worn two sizes too small above a studded belt. But thankfully, courtesy of brands seeing the polo shirt’s fit-for-all-occasions potential and stylist’s putting it on their client’s back, we can finally bring this piece of menswear back from the sartorial graveyard.
