It’s a balmy morning in Sydney’s CBD when Dior first opens its Seasonal Boutique, an apt atmosphere for the in-store launch of Shawn Stussy’s much-hyped collaboration with the house. The coveted surfboard stands in the centre of the store on proud display – just one of 100 numbered editions across the world – while beachwear splashed with eponymous branding is meticulously styled, centred in the store’s menswear area.
Yet while guests found refuge in the aircon from the sweltering winds that blew outside, it was hard not to gush over the French house’s Winter 2020 collection. Unlike the permanent Dior boutiques that can be found on Castlereagh Street further south of the city, where men’s and womenswear is split by separate store fronts, the full styles on offering could be viewed across the same floor, a welcomed change for fans of androgynous style.

The boutique taps into the luxury experiential feel of the space, and reflects the legendary elegance and timeless modernity of the world of Dior. Taking inspiration from the iconic Paris flagship on 30 avenue Montaigne, the striking George Street seasonal boutique boasts a sleek and open layout. The space houses the complete women’s and men’s universes, from ready-to-wear to leather goods, shoes and accessories. The decor focuses on lustrous, monochromatic details, dramatic accents of chrome and glass, and sumptuous furnishings.
