‘Euphoria‘ breakout star Hunter Schafer has officially been added to the cast for the highly-touted prequel to ‘The Hunger Games’, set to be released next year.
Schafer, who made her acting debut portraying Jules in HBO’s Euphoria series, is set to play Tigris Snow, Coriolanus’ cousin and confidant in ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – a character who was first introduced in the fourth film of the original ‘Hunger Games’ franchise.
She will appear onscreen opposite Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) who will play Lucy Gray, the girl tribute from the infamous District 12, who are about to endure the 10th annual Hunger Games (which is way before when the original films are set).

What is ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ About?
The prequel film will most likely be based off the book by the same name, which heavily focuses on the story of Coriolanus Snow (played by Donald Sutherland in the original films), before he became to be the powerful and twisted president he is known to be in the original films.
As mentioned, the film will be set during the 10th Hunger Games, where Snow serves as a mentor to a tribute named Lucy Gray Baird for District 12. The official synopsis reads:
“Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favour. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird and a snake.”
Who Has Been Cast?
While details around the official casting list have been kept on the down-low, we can confirm the following key roles:
- Rachel Zegler will play Lucy Gray Baird, the lead female role and the girl tribute from District 12
- Tom Blyth will star as 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow
- Jerome Lance, Knox Gibson, Mackenzie Lansing and Ashley Liao will all play various tributes
- Aamer Husain (Hudson & Rex) stars as Felix Ravinstill, a mentor to a tribute from District 11.
- Hunter Schafer will play Tigris Snow
