With the coming of the new month comes a slew of new (and old) titles set to hit our screens via the much-loved streaming platform, Netflix. And while sometimes too many options can prove a burden – the struggle is real, folks – we’ve made your job a little more bearable by collating all the new cinematic goodies hitting our Netflix screens this August.
Here are all the new movies and TV shows, documentaries and mini-series coming to Netflix this August, including our favourites to watch.
Clusterf**k: Woodstock ’99
The festivals of nightmares, Woodstock ’99 had high hopes of following in the footsteps of its ’69 counterpart. How terribly different it was. What unfolded at Woodstock ‘99 was utter chaos. What was meant to be a millennium-defining celebration of peace, love and great music instead turned into an epic clusterf*ck of fires, riots and destruction. This documentary dives deep into rare insider footage and eyewitness interviews of Woodstock ’99.
The Sandman
This new dark fantasy meets modern myth is one to add to your viewing list. The Sandman follows the life of Morpheus, the Dream King, as he tries to mend the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence. An action packed mythical drama that documents Morpheus travelling to the different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence caused.
Day Shift
This new comedy-meets-horror features a stellar cast in Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, and Snoop Dogg, bounty hunters who are in the business of killing vampires. Foxx stars as a hard-working blue-collar dad looking to provide a good life for his daughter, as he balances life as a San Fernando Valley pool cleaner with hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters. If anything, we’re looking forward to seeing Snoop Dogs’ cowboy-esque fits.
Selling The OC
Follo the young, fresh (and controversial) realtors who are looking to establish themselves at The Oppenheim Group’s second office on the Orange County coast. An easy-watching reality series that combines the best homes in California with the goss and drama you love to see unfold.
