With the new month comes a slew of new (and old) titles set to hit our screens via the much-loved streaming platform, Netflix. And while sometimes too many options can prove a burden – the struggle is real, folks – we’ve made your job a little more bearable by collating all the new cinematic goodies hitting our Netflix screens this May.
Here are all the new movies and TV shows, documentaries and mini-series coming to Netflix this May, including our favourites to watch.
Stranger Things 4: Volume 1
They say all good things must come to an end, and sadly Stranger Things is coming to its inevitable end. With season four split into two parts, the events from this season will pave way to Stranger Things season five – the final season of the show.
So, with season four a mere weeks away, it has some big questions to answer after the season three blockbuster, like what happened to Hopper? Is he alive and well?
Stranger Things creators the Duffer brothers have said that Stranger Things 4 has been the “most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one,” and it’s been tipped that viewers are in for a real treat.
Part one will drop on Netflix on May 27 with the second half following just six weeks later on July 1.
The Lincoln Lawyer
We’ve all seen the rather enjoyable 2011 film The Lincoln Lawyer which arguably put Matthew McConaughey back on the map. Now, iconic TV creator David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers) has put his spin on the 2008 novel The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly, which The Lincoln Lawyer is based on.
The show will follow down and out defensive lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) who’s looking to restart his career by taking on big and small cases across Los Angeles in the back of his Lincoln.
Hold Your Breath: The Ice Dive
Perhaps not viewing for the faint hearted, this incredible documentary takes you to Heinola, Finland where free diver Johanna Nordblad attempts to break the world record for distance traveled under ice with one breath.
Already holding the world record for the most distance traveled under ice in a single dive and breath in the women’s category (50m), she now attempts to reach 80m, which has never been done before by another woman. Riveting viewing ahead.
