With the coming of the new month comes a slew of new (and old) titles set to hit our screens via the much-loved streaming platform, Netflix. And while sometimes too many options can prove a burden – the struggle is real, folks – we’ve made your job a little more bearable by collating all the new cinematic goodies hitting our Netflix screens this October.

This month, there is some great viewing to be had. From true story redemptive sporting feats to a lonely soldier’s journey in World War One (and more), here are all the new movies and TV shows, documentaries and mini-series coming to Netflix this October, including our favourites to watch.

The Redeem Team

The Redeem Team is a must-watch sporting documentary that uses unprecedented Olympic footage and behind-the-scenes material to tell the story of the US Olympic Men’s Basketball Team’s quest for gold at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008. What makes this such a fascinating story of redemption is, following the previous team’s incredibly dismal performance four years earlier in Athens – the team of superstars, including Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and the late Kobe Bryant, went on to not only win the Olympic gold but they set a new standard for American basketball in the process.

All Quiet On The Western Front

Based on the literary masterpiece by Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front tells the gripping story of a young German soldier, Paul, who is stationed on the Western Front during World War I. Paul and his comrades experience first-hand not only how frightening and un-glorious war is, but the fear and desperation they face as they fight to survive in the trenches.

The Watcher

From the creators of American Horror Story comes The Watcher, a frightening tale inspired by true events. After the Brannock family move into what was to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes anything but. Ominous letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher” are just the beginning as the neighbourhood’s sinister secrets come spilling out. Starring Bobby Carnavale and Australia’s own Naomi Watts.
