Sometimes, George R.R. Martin sounds like a broken record. In August of last year, the 71-year-old author suggested to fans that he was continuing writing for a series of forthcoming books to the Game of Thrones franchise. As of yet, eager book worms are yet to seen any evidence, that is until the writer revealed his plans from self-isolation.

Announcing updates via his web platform Not A BlogMartin revealed that he is in self-isolation in a remote location working on the sixth novel.

“I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone. Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here,” the award-winning author revealed.

The sixth book, ‘The Winds Of Winter’ has been a long time coming following the release of the fifth instalment in July, 2011. And according to Martin, the impending seventh novel will be the last of the series.

So can we expect publishing in the near future? We truly hope so.
