It was a match made in heaven. In January, Jared Leto and Lana Del Rey faced Gucci for a new chapter of signature fragrances. Captured in a quintessential American setting – a retro beauty salon – the duo introduced #ForeverGuilty, a pair of scents embodying a declaration of self-expression and unapologetic fearlessness. Seizing a new generation of luxury enthusiasts, the Italian fashion house has ushered in a revived iteration of the classic scent. Making up the modern chapter of Italian scent making history, Alessandro Michele has introduced Gucci Guilty Cologne.

The brain child of German-based, Italian perfumer Jean Paul Feminis, cologne was first invented in the XVII century by re-blending an original fragrance by Florentine monks. With the addition of local neroli essential oil, bergamot and orange, the unique formula came to fruition as it was passed on with the title, ‘Cologne.’ Named in honour of the city where he once lived, the classic customisation has made its way through time to continue on a narrative of European perfumery.

Tasked with the recreation of #ForeverGuilty, Master perfumer Alberto Morillas has idealised the historic practice for the contemporary ‘Gucci Guilty Cologne’. Vibrant and intense, the aromatic personality of the scent translates into an unexpected dry down effect as it features noble wood notes and powerful citruses, wrapped in a distinctive pale green colour.

Offering a fresh, modernised interpretation of the classic cologne formula, Morillas balances natural notes with citrus aromatics. In the top notes, Bergamot sourced from Calabria adds a luminous layer to inherently masculine Rosemary and Juniper Berries Essences. Like its predecessors, Guilty Cologne offers the same intense heart of Spanish Cypress Essence with the familiar tones married with elegant floral notes including Heliotropine and Violet. As it is applied to the skin, the welcomed dry down effect highlights Patchouli and leaves the lingering scent of warm Cedar wood and White Musks.

Reprising the same elegance of the Gucci Guilty Pour Homme bottle, the cologne rendition reveals a new essence of luxury with a transparent bottle as it heroes a soft green hue.

Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Cologne is available from MYER and David Jones stores now.
