Disney has finally released the first official trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. and things are looking a little uncertain for Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and his team of misfits.

While the teaser trailer doesn’t give a whole bunch away, here’s what we took away from the two-minute clip: Quill is still reeling from the loss of his love, Gamora (who died in Avengers: End Game); the gang is looking to putting up one more fight rather than “keep on running” as they have been. If that means dying for a cause, then so be it. The clip also subtly introduces us to the newest villain, Will Poulter’s ‘Adam Warlock’, the cosmic golden character that is “more powerful, more beautiful, more capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

“I feel very, very lucky and honoured to have been welcomed into the Marvel family,” Poulter told  Flip Your Wig. “Particularly in a franchise like Guardians of the Galaxy, which I regard to be incredibly creative and very, very unique. James Gunn is someone I really, really admire so I feel very lucky.”

James Gunn is returning to the director’s seat for his third and what will likely be the final run with the Guardians crew. Notably, the outspoken director was fired over a string of offensive tweets and then rehired less than a year later. Returning to the MCU is also Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora (perhaps in flash-back scenes?), Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit cinemas worldwide on May 5th, 2023.
