When it comes to listing the highest paid actors, musicians or athletes of the year, nowadays, it comes down to who has the most partnership deals. This is rather than the most time on screen. Nevertheless, we’re in a new age of brand promotion and for the second year in a row, Dwayne Johnson has taken out the top spot of the highest paid actors in 2020.

For the last financial year – June 2019 to June 2020 – Johnson raked in a whopping $87.5 million USD (or roughly $122.15 million AUD), thanks to his box office smash, Jumanji: The Next Level. According to Forbeshe has made $23.5 million USD (or $32.8 million AUD) on his forthcoming Netflix deal, Red Notice. He can also thank some of his monetary successes to brand partnerships including Under Armour clothing line, Project Rock. This year’s earnings are slightly down from the year before with 2019 earning the actor $89.4 million USD.

Red Notice co-star, Ryan Reynolds, came in for second place with an earning of $71.5 million USD. He earned $20 million USD for the forthcoming film and another $20 million for another Netflix film, Six Underground. 

Another Netflix regular, Mark Wahlberg, hit third place for projects such as Spenser Confidential as well as production roles on the likes of McMillions and Wahl Street. Ben Affleck was fourth and earned himself $55 million USD after starring in The Way Back and The Last Thing He Wanted. Fifth was Vin Diesel thanks to Netflix animated spin off series, Fast and Furious Spy Races.
