With just six words House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy has had half the planet questioning their sexuality while frantically googling what the bollocks is a negroni sbagliato. And why would you have Prosecco in it? Perhaps the better question is, why would you NOT put Prosecco in it?

I’ll take one of each. #houseofthedragon

In a TikTok Q&A with her HoD co-star Olivia Cooke, D’Arcy was asked what her drink of choice was. The answer is, delivered in D’Arcy’s husky contralto, now internet legend: A negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.

Stunning indeed.

Made with equal parts gin, vermouth, and Campari the negroni is already the perfect drink. (If you’re not a fan, you’re a tasteless barbarian.) So the fact a bartender somewhere has mucked about with its simple, flawless ingredients and potentially improved it…I’m all in.

A negroni sbagliato, with Prosecco in it, involves the simplest of tweaks: simply swap out the gin and pour yourself a dollop of decent sparkling Italian wine instead. If you’re stuck on choosing which Prosecco to bring this nifty little drink to life, I recommend turning your attention to local winemaker Dal Zotto’s Col Fondo Prosecco.

If you’re planning on ordering your new favourite drink at the bar, keep in mind you probs don’t need to add the closing phrase requesting the Prosecco. Just by asking for a negroni sbagliato (which means “mistake” in Italian) already fits the description.

Over the weekend, even Google paid homage to the iconic moment. If you googled either Olivia Cooke or Emma D’Arcy, you would be greeted with an animation of the pair’s favourite drinks giving a cheers.

Again, stunning.
