In late July, a controversial decision was made to axe Marvel’s James Gunn after decade-old tweets resurfaced on the directors social media. With Guardians of the Galaxy actors threatening to walk following the news, it seems there is light at the end of the tunnel, with rumours flying over James Gunn’s switch to DC.

According to a report by The Wrap, insiders close to the source have confirmed that the director is in talks with DC with the potential to write and direct the next Suicide Squad. He is rumoured to have a completely new take on the film, where the original had villains recruited to carry out dirty and high-profile missions.

The move to Marvel and Disney’s competitor, DC has been taken as direct defiance and the ultimate comeback to executives of the network, for what has been considered an un-just dismissal.

The next film in the Suicide Squad franchise is said to not be a sequel, rather an entirely new approach to the property – potentially giving Gunn full reign to reignite the film.

Stay tuned for further developments.
