SYDNEY: 45-year-old actor, producer and director Joel Edgerton is one of Australia’s shining exports into the world of Hollywood. After decades in the industry and a culmination of credits – from prominent roles such as The Great Gatsby and Boy Erased (for which he also directed) to producing the forthcoming film The King – he has become a prolific figure among many disciplines. Early this year, the Blacktown-born creative revealed to media that he aspired to bring his talent back to home soil and according to Edgerton, he wasn’t “being ‘hello’ about that comment”.

Appearing on the red carpet for the premiere of The King, the native confirmed to ICON plans to begin production for a new film in “May, June”, 2020.

“Yes, next year. Next year we will be shooting something in May, June, June, July,” he revealed to ICON. When I asked for a hint, he declined. “I’m not going to say anything more, but I’m actively spear-heading something to shoot here …  so I wasn’t being ‘hello’ about that comment. That, and two other things that I’m producing. My plan is to spend more time at home.

Joel Edgerton boasts a series of prestigious accolades which includes Golden Globe nominations for Boy Erased. Stay tuned for what is to come.

Welcome home, Edgerton.
