Released earlier last month, “Football Reimagined”, a Nike capsule in collaboration with Kim Jones dropped. As we approach the third week of the World Cup, Belgium’s rising football star Kai Havertz has appeared in a shoot in partnership with Nike and Sleek, showing us exactly how to style football gear in your everyday streetwear.

Born in Germany, Havertz quickly became famous for his technical talents. The player made his debut for football club Bayer Leverkusen in 2016, and went on to become the club’s youngest ever goalscorer in the Bundesliga the following year.

Taking cues from rave culture and ‘70s punk bondage, the Dior Homme Creative Director applied these aesthetics to traditional football silhouettes, as a means to celebrate  the “unity of the game… the love of the team, it’s the element of feeling like as one as a group of people”. The swoosh branding is detailed in metallic and holographic print that lends a sense of luxury to the collection, while the designer has combined The Footscape, the Vandal and the Air Max 97, to create the shape of the Mercurial.

Shot by Lucas Christiansen and styled by Lorena Maza, check out the shoot above and cop the sneaker action below.
