Mark Wahlberg has always been known for his built physique whether he is in peak training or during an ‘off’ period. Past reports have pegged the 48-year-old actor to wake early, train for hours and eat a high-meat diet. Seems like a go-to – though, not at all practical – plan. But according to a new interview with Men’s Health, Wahlberg has been left with a leaky gut and to remedy the situation he has had to adjust his diet.
In the health publication’s online segment ‘Vs The Internet’, Wahlberg responded to a fan asking whether he has ever fasted. His response? Regarding to an Instagram post from December 2019, he replied, “I normally never fast. In this particular shot, I was eating eight meals a day. But eating eight meals a day and sometimes steak two times a day, I was just eating chicken, fish, steak, pork, I found myself towards the end of the movie – six months – with a leaky gut.
“So I did just do a fast, I did a bone broth fast, and I’ve been eating plant-based for about three weeks now and I gotta tell ya, I feel really good.”
His interview comes off the back of his lead role in Spenser Confidential, a recently released Netflix film also featuring Post Malone and Winston Duke. Playing the titular character, Spenser, an ex police detective is released from prison with plans to leave Boston forever before he is pulled into a twisted murder conspiracy. It available to watch on Netflix now.
Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson are two actors who have become plant-based in recent years while Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix has lived much of his life on a vegan diet, and continues to urge people to do the same.
