Everything

For the past few seasons, men’s style has been dominated by smaller bags – the revival of the cross-body and the huge popularity of the bum bag is proof enough of this. For AW19 however, designers are taking things one step further (and smaller), with the new ‘it’ shape – the micro bag – worn either around the neck akin to a necklace, clasped in hand, or like a cross-body lanyard.
The micro bag is around the size of your average phone or wallet, albeit with a strap, and has just enough room for the essentials – a phone, some keys and a few cards. In a technologically enabled world where payments are made using smartphones and modern conveniences are merely a few taps away – do we really need much more?
Blame it on Jacquemus if you like, with the now iconic ‘Mini Le Chiquito’ women’s bag debuted for AW19 at an almost unbelievable size of only two inches. However, many designers have joined the micro bag bandwagon for AW19, with the likes of Fendi, Versace, Prada and Loewe releasing their own interpretations of the trend.
Consider pairing a micro bag with multiple layers, as a stylish addition to an overall look (similar to Prada or Versace) or let it take centre stage as the hero of your outfit (similar to Loewe or Fendi) – either way, this small addition will make a big impact to your style game.
