Eight days ago, Minneapolis man, George Floyd was killed by law enforcement in another display of police brutality against Black people in the United States. Soon after, video footage of the killing spread far and wide across social media and threw the country into a rage they have felt many times before. Like past responses to injustice, African-Americans and their allies took to the streets to protest another display of systematic oppression and police brutality. Yet in many areas of the nation, these demonstrations have moved beyond peaceful protesting and onto rioting.

As the #BlackLivesMatter protests extend into its seventh day, so too does the number of cities in the United States that are joining the cause. As at the time of writing, every state in America has held demonstrations, seeking justice for George Floyd and the past black people that have been taken before him.

One of the most powerful things to come from the demonstrations already, are the images revealing raw emotion felt, incredible bravery and overwhelming support from US citizens. From lone demonstrators facing a mob of police, to allies using their bodies to shield Black protestors.
