Calling all football fanatics, the most valuable football player in the world have been announced. Looking back at the 2019/2020 season, Swiss-based sports research group CIES Football Observatory has once again compiled its list of most valuable player and the results are in. Based on a number of factors including performance for both club and country, age, position, current league as well as the economic power and success of the club reveals the market worth of the player. On top, 21-year-old mogul and French player Kylian Mbappé is worth €265.2 million EUR (approximately $429.9 million AUD), according to the study.
What may be a surprise to some, the high paid earner on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, was no where to be seen in the top 10 while Lionel Messi of Barcelona came out at eighth with an estimated worth of €125.5 million EUR ($203.4 million AUD) despite also being named in Forbes’ highest-paid athletes of the decade. Raheem Sterling of Manchester City came in second place followed by Mohammed Salah from Liverpool. Bookending the list, it was Lautaro Martínez of Internazionale who scraped in at number 10.
