The third season of Netflix’s F1 series looks set to be the most explosive yet based on the Drive To Survive season 3 teaser.

The teaser trailer takes fans back to the breathtaking moment last year when the entire world was thrown into disarray at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. The Melbourne F1 was amongst the first major sporting events to be cancelled, thrusting F1 into the global spotlight as it faced a momentous decision.

As shown in the Drive To Survive Season 3 teaser, officials eventually decided to cancel the F1 event in Melbourne, kickstarting a domino effect that would precipitate the most disrupted F1 calendar in history.

While it may have been a highly unpredictable season, it ended in the most predictable circumstances: Lewis Hamilton lifting his 7th F1 Championship. The victory saw the Englishman tie equal with Michael Schumacher for championships won, and no doubt the hunt for this record will play a significant part in Hamilton’s arc.

The third season of F1: Drive To Survive will split the focus between the established drivers – Hamilton, Ricciardo, Verstappen and Vettel – and the up-and-comers, including Norris, Gasly, Russell and Alex Albon.

Aside from the global pandemic, the 2020 F1 season threw up plenty of storylines for producers to pick from and based on Drive To Survive Season 3 Teaser, we can expect high drama. From Lando Norris’ shock Austria podium to Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren switch and Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari. The Black Lives Matter movement will also feature the F1 lineup famously taking a knee together ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

Much like the first two seasons, Drive To Survive will feature ten new episodes though it’s unclear if each episode will follow a particular team as per the previous format.

A full trailer for the series’ third season should drop online shortly, and ten episodes will be available on Netflix from March 19 – ten days before the 2021 championship gets underway with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
