South America boasts some of the world’s most spectacular views and combined with the rich culture of the continent, it has become a popular tourist destination for many people. Now, if you want to explore the area from the comfort of your bed, we suggest adding this unique experience to your bucket list.

In operation for just over 18 months, Peru’s Belmond Andean Explorer became the first luxury sleeper train for the country, with winding routes between Cusco, Puno, and Arequipa. Giving guests opportunities to see the La Raya Mountain Range, Colca Canyon, and Lake Titicaca – the world’s highest lake – the train has been inspired by Peruvian culture and aesthetics for an Orient Express-like experience.

Sleeping up to 48 guests, the trains features four different styles of cabins, including two with double beds and two types with twin beds – all with private ensuites. When you’re not lounging around in the cabins, the transport offers two dining carts with a piano, letting you take in the scenery with a cocktail and meals showcasing locally sourced and seasonal dishes. What’s more, the routes also include a spa car for ultimate relaxation.

Including off-train experiences during the trip, prices start from $480 per night, twin share. It is suggested you combine your journey with a trip to Machu Picchu on the company’s sister train, Belmond Hiram Bingham – another one to tick off the bucket list.
