Hailing from Australia, young actor, singer and model Samuel Barrie has worldly ambitions that surpass Down Under. While the rising star has also graced the digital pages for ICON, his resume too boasts some impressive highlights including walking for Valentino Men’s Spring/Summer 2020 and Sies Marjan Spring/Summer 2020, fronting campaigns for David Jones and The Iconic, as well as being an independent artist and actor.

Barrie’s latest achievement features him in the latest Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2020 collection. Teeming with wardrobe essentials that can be flipped for the impending cold weather up top, or our balmy Summer days in the southern hemisphere, all-American style is renewed. Travelling from the midwestern states of Colorado to Montana, the collection clashes a sartorial country aesthetic with East Coast, Ivy League prep. Borrowing from American tradition, folk craftsmanship ranging from saddle stitching to braiding, smocking and lace detailing are applied throughout in a fitting celebration of the brand’s 35th anniversary.

For further insight into the world of rising sartorial star, Samuel Barrie, we penned a couple of questions below.

Your life motto?
I have a few like; “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today” (Malcolm X) and “There’s beauty in darkness once you remove fear” (self-derived). The Malcolm X one keeps me building for the long term and limiting my procrastination and the self-derived one reminds me to not be afraid of pushing creative bounds.

One career highlight?
Being able to watch a feature film I was casted in (Sequin in the Blue Room) with some friends. A few awkward laughs, but it added more fuel to my creative fire.

Dream job?
CEO of my own production and technology development company.

An ideal day off?
A relaxed day with family and loved ones. No social media, board games and uno cards. Traditional cultural food and a good movie we can all sit together and watch.

Your biggest inspiration?
My family and friends inspire me. They give me strength when I’m weak so I’m driven to keep working so I can enhance their lives with experiences and opportunities.

A trend you will never stop wearing?
I’m really infatuated right now with glow in the dark clothes. It inspires me and I’m planning on creating something with them.

And a trend you hope never comes back?
I’d really hope the trending apparel from the jerking and snap back era doesn’t come back. I still have stomach turning flash backs to the fringe I confidently owned within that sad moment in time.

What makes a great wardrobe essential?
It needs to be classic but with a twist, Tommy Hilfiger does this really well. I am a big hat wearer, whether a beanie or a cap, they are perfectly trans seasonal. The Tommy Hilfiger logo caps are a go to, from summer to winter and you can dress them up or down.

An album you’ll never get sick of?
I love the album spaceman from the indie alternative artist Want of peace. His voice and artisty is something still underrated but appreciated.

Your all-time favourite film?
I don’t really have a favourite film but I’ve been rewatching Gone a fair bit lately. No need for concern, I really like the writing structure of it.

Your favourite city?
My favourite city most likely will always be Sydney. No matter where I go my heart will always be at home in Sydney.
