It’s true; Kurt Cobain has been the subject of some pretty epic images throughout the years. Fronting ’90s rock band Nirvana, Cobain has been remembered as one of the most prolific rock musicians of his time and over the weekend, his name blew up Instagram with a throwback picture, courtesy of Snoop Dogg.

During the festivities of the Fourth of July, Snoop took to his Instagram account to post a nostalgic image of himself and Cobain smoking a joint in an undisclosed bedroom – perfectly candid and perfectly legendary. Snoop has lit up with A-listers on a number of occasions and includes the likes of Martha Stewart and Willie Nelson. The image looks legitimate and naturally, fans of the pair blew up the social media platform but according to new reports, the image is in fact doctored. But did Snoop know?

First published to Instagram account @_vemix_ – known for “visually remixing” images of celebrities – Snoop reposted the photoshopped image which has since gone viral, so much so you can now purchase a t-shirt. Both Cobain and Snoop are regulars on the account so whether he in fact knew it was fake remains unknown.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re pretty disappointed it’s not real so we’ll just wait for the next legendary throwback.
