Following the Sony and Marvel power struggle to acquire the rights to future Spider-Man projects, fresh news is on the way for everyone’s friendly neighbourhood superhero. In 2018, the animated iteration, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was expectedly, a resounding success picking up $375.5 million USD at the box office worldwide and Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards. Now, a sequel is on its way.

The first film follows the story of Miles Morales after he is bitten by a radioactive spider in a Brooklyn subway (you can hear true crime tales here), transforming the teenager into Spider-Man. He soon meets Peter Parker and realises there are many more like him. Not much is known about the forthcoming sequel however it was tweeted, its release would be seen in cinemas on April 8, 2022. We know, it’s just over two years away but its exciting for S.M. fans nonetheless.

According to several reports, Sony Pictures will bring back writer Phil Lord and producer Christopher Miller to create the second film. Stay tuned for further details as they happen.
