Since his breakout role in the celebrated Netflix series Stranger Things, 16-year-old Finn Wolfhard has developed a knack for the horror genre. Following appearances in It and It: Chapter Two, the young actor will star in the forthcoming adaption of Henry James’ classic horror story ‘The Turn of the Screw’. Aptly dubbed The Turning, the 1898 tale has been reimagined for a ’90s setting.

The official synopsis reads:

“For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles. Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harbouring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.”

Behind the brainchild is a resume of genre experts and includes writers Chad Hayes & Carey W. Hayes (The Conjuring) as well as producers Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along 2) and Roy Lee (It, The Lego Movie). The film features Mackenzie Davis (Tully, The Martian), Finn Wolfhard (It, Netflix’s Stranger Things), newcomer Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project) and Joely Richardson (Red Sparrow, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Despite being pushed back since 2016, the film will finally drop into Australia cinemas from January 24, 2020. Tune into the trailer below.
