Mind the pun but if this is pulled off, it will be out-of-this-world.

Sure, Tom Cruise has quite literally done it all. Flown his own jet? Check. Performed his own death-defying stunts? Also check. So when it comes to up-skilling, of course the 57-year-old took it to the next level, that level being literal outer space. Whilst it was originally rumoured via Deadline early this week, NASA‘s chief Jim Bridenstine has confirmed that the company along with Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Tom Cruise are working on a project filmed in space.

“NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality,” Bridenstine wrote on Twitter. Musk replied, “Should be a lot of fun!”

Official word from Cruise is yet to be heard on the ambitious production but it is probably safe to say it appears to be going ahead. Details on the film are not known. Questions are raised on whether it will be a feature length or short film. As for Musk’s involvement, logistics will most likely be his role with Cruise one of the first passengers of the highly-publicised adventure to the International Space Station.

So much is still not known so stay tuned for further developments.
