It has been 32 years since the original Top Gun was released. After three decades of patiently waiting, Hollywood is finally producing a sequel. Coined, Top Gun: Maverick, the new film will feature old favourites including Tom Cruise and his on-screen rival Val Kilmer playing ‘Iceman’. Rumours are surfacing with the plot set to revolve around fighter pilots adjusting to a new age of drone technology.

Cruise took to twitter to confirm that production had started on the sequel.

Other than the copious amounts of action that viewers will see, the epic soundtrack that accompanied the original movie will create high expectations for the sequel. Talking to TMZ, Kenny Loggin’s legendary “Danger Zone” is also set for revival according to the artist. More or less confirming its feature in Top Gun 2, Loggins will look to a potential sidekick (read: younger and more relevant) to create the rendition.

“I met Tom Cruise on [The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon], and I asked him that question,” Loggins said, talking about doing a new Danger Zone song. “He said, ‘Of course, we have to use Danger Zone.’

So I’m hoping to do it, maybe as a duet with a young act. I’d love to work with, well, there’s young and then there’s young. We have some feelers out to some pretty cool rock acts.”
