Everything
Overnight, a deal that has long been talked about was finally sealed. As of 12:02 am EST on Wednesday March 20, Walt Disney acquired the rights to The Simpsons, X-Men, Deadpool and Family Guy along with the entire library to 21st Century Fox’s films and television series. Costing the production company a whopping $71.3 billion USD, the empire of Disney continues to grow.
Along with its new acquisition, Disney will also absorb the 30 percent stake Fox has with Hulu and combined with its own 30 percent stake, it is the majority shareholder for the streaming service. Fox Corp which is predominately made up of news programs will remain a separate entity while Marvel gets its hands on the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters – previously lost to Fox in the ’90s.
“This is an extraordinary and historic moment for us — one that will create significant long-term value for our company and our shareholders,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said about the momentous occasion. “Combining Disney’s and 21st Century Fox’s wealth of creative content and proven talent creates the preeminent global entertainment company, well positioned to lead in an incredibly dynamic and transformative era.”
Many questions are still unanswered regarding the overall structure of the growing company, however like any historic occasion, Twitter has its own thoughts on the matter. While the internet is ultimately divided over the merge, celebrities along with the general public have all taken to social media with hilarious reactions. See our favourite below.

it was a close finish
I wanna congratulate Disney on outbidding me for Fox. I realize now that my offer, $13,000 and an IOU for $81-billion scrawled on a Arby's bag in crayon, was unrealistic and whatnot.
