When you hear the name Vance Joy, it’s hard not to have the catchy tune to his incredible “Riptide” song play in your head. After it was voted number 1 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2013, the artist hailing from Melbourne has gained attention across the globe – and even with America’s greatest musician. Namely, Taylor Swift.
Joy was announced as Taylor Swift’s support act in 2014 for her “The 1989 Tour” and travelled the world with the blonde bombshell, across North America, the UK and Australia.
“It was very busy and so many doors opened, and I took those opportunities. I was playing my song on every radio station…. I didn’t know where the line was with what I could handle.”
Continuing on his success, Vance Joy won The Best Adult Contemporary Artist award at this years ARIAs. The pressing question we all had on our minds however, was he still in contact with Tay-Tay.
“I don’t hear from Tay-Tay anymore. I just sent an email to ‘TaylorSwift@gmail’ and got nothing back. She takes your number, you don’t get hers. She is lovely, what a great opportunity that was and she’s very generous, and very kind.”
