Last month it was announced that for his Fall 2023 menswear collection for Dior, Kim Jones would be taking the French Maison and beloved fans to Cairo. Mark you calendars and perhaps your alarms because the time has finally come – this Sunday, December 4 at 3am AEST (or December 3, 6pm Cairo local time) you can witness one of the most spectacular fashion events of the year live with ICON.
Jones has created a tradition of travelling collections, incorporating artistic and cultural nuance of each location into his shows. Previously, he has revealed shows in London, Tokyo and Miami. For those, Jones worked with artists or referenced iconic literature in his inspirations. For Cairo and its ancient pyramids of Giza – one of the world’s most oldest cities and among the most significant in humanity’s history of civilisation – how it will be incorporated or touched on in the collection remains to be seen.
