Brooklyn based start-up, Light, launched it’s company in 2014 and has recently debuted its second product to the market. Introducing the Light Phone 2.
If you haven’t heard of this genius device before, the Light Phone is a discreet credit card sized mobile phone designed to make only calls with limited features such as speed dial and simple time display. It was first launched on Kickstarter in 2015, before recently introducing it’s predecessor, The Light Phone 2.
The new model can do so much more and can (almost, depending on your addiction) replace your current smart phone. It’s features include making calls and texts, storing contacts, an alarm clock and even a head phone jack and can be controlled via an app on your computer display. Before you dismiss the idea of retiring your additional body part, the Light Phone 2 technology is designed to be used as your second phone, a seamless extension of your own device.
Founders, Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang, met in 2014 at a Google Incubator in New York City, where they were taught and encouraged to create software apps for the company. The duo quickly decided that they wanted to head into another direction – creating products that align with a quality of life. Light has been built by believing that tools can respect us, can empower us to be our best selves and appreciate our lives more. Amen Elon Musk, sorry Sophia.
