Later last week, Young Thug took to Twitter to announce a mysterious new album – a debut for the artist. With little information surrounding the announcement, the rapper has returned to Instagram with some exciting new details. However, hours after his social media post, Young Thug was arrested following several counts of drug charges.

As reported by Complex, his bail has not yet been set.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office website, Thug—real name Jeffery Lamar Williams—was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. local time for violating the state’s controlled substance act.

It is not known when he may be freed or the fate of his new album. Young Thug revealed the news of his latest project on a hand written letter, which reads, “While I’m down… ON THE RVN”, and goes onto detail names, which are assumed to be song collaborators. Among the artists, notables include Sir Elton John and Jaden Smith, along with 6LACK and YSL cohort T-Shyne.

A regular on the collaborative scene, Young Thug previously dropped compilation album, Slime Language, centred around himself and other artists signed to Young Stoner Life Records. Last week, he also teamed up with YoungBoy Never Broke Again for the 4Loyalty track “Permanent Scar.”

Stay tuned for any updates on Young Thug’s release.
