Paris Fashion Week has played host to a number of feet-related fashion roadkill. (À la Carrie Bradshaw falling face first at her catwalk debut).

From stilettos left on the runway to models taking a tumble wearing unstable and ultra-high heels, it’s not uncommon for something to go awry in the city of lights. This is, however, typically confined to those cast to present new-season collections.

Yet, for the Fall/Winter 2024 menswear season, Zayn Malik found himself in the centre of an unfortunate near-miss accident. The musician’s public appearances are few and far between these days.

As you’d expect, his presence on the front row of Loewe and Valentino was a surprising addition to the arsenal of A-listers attending this season. However, the former One Direction member didn’t leave Paris unscathed, with the star almost run over before he even took his seat at Kenzo’s show.

The mishap was well-documented on social media, with the 31-year-old seemingly forced onto the road to avoid the swarms of people gathering around him as he arrived at the venue. Unfortunately, a car was slowly driving past at that exact moment, with Malik grimacing and saying “Oh!” as the front tires cruised over his toes.

If Malik was a Cancer and not a Capricorn, he might’ve used the opportunity to garner sympathy for himself after the accident. Instead, the musician took the mishap in good stride (no pun intended) and posted a close-up of the tire marks left on his white Kenzo sneakers.

Tagging Kenzo and the French-Japanese luxuriate’s creative director, Nigo, Malik captioned his post: “Thanks for a great show! My foot is fine!! Thanks to my incredibly well-made shoes 😂👍🏼”

As for the driver, that’s what the French would call Les Incompétents.
