As summer makes its way over the northern hemisphere, festival season has well and truly commenced but with any large-scale event, chaos normally ensues. This was the case for A$AP Rocky who was arrested on Tuesday night following a public brawl on the streets of Stockholm, Sweden.

Following his appearance at Smash hip-hop festival in the city where the rapper played a set pulled from his new TESTING album, Rocky and his crew were involved in a fight that led the star to becoming incarcerated. Allegedly charged with “gross assault”, the news broke via TMZ but while the rapper waits to appear in front of a judge, new evidence suggests that all is not what it seems.

Taking to Instagram, several videos detail the moments before the provoked attack.

“So a few drug addicts are not my fans,” he said on his Instagram account. “We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break.”

The two lengthy videos depict the two men following the group and security guard incessantly before being asked to walk the opposite way. Towards the end but not in view, two women approach the group claiming that the two men, “slapped my ass and my girlfriend’s ass.”

What this means for Rocky is unknown but according to Sweden law, he can be held for up to three days while awaiting trial.
