When Gucci announced its collaboration with German sporting giant adidas in 2022, the highly-anticipated capsule collection was an immediate hit with consumers (have you tried to score yourself a pair of adidas x Gucci Gazelles? Impossible!). So it comes as no surprise that the luxury fashion house is set to team up with adidas once more, and the internet has been afforded a sneak peak at the footwear capsule in the works.
According to Highsnobiety, representatives from adidas refused to comment but it has been suggested by a Gucci rep that the second major adidas x Gucci drop will indeed come sooner than we think (late March), with a “focus on footwear” at the core of its collection, and possibly no apparel this time around.
More gazelle’s, please!
As seen via the first-look leaks which have surfaced across social media platforms this month, we’re greeted by new adidas x Gucci Gazelle styles, ZX8000 sneakers, and even Adilette slides in a translucent material. This adidas x Gucci news, which has been fuelled by Hypebeasts and sneaker fans alike across social media, follows speculation that adidas x Balenciaga will also be releasing another capsule collection in 2023, but adidas declined to comment on this rumoured second collaboration with Balenciaga.
The adidas x Gucci collaboration has been a hit amongst consumers and celebrities alike, with clothing and footwear style being worn by Hollywood’s biggest stars — Harry Styles, Rihanna, James Harden and Jenner Lopez are all fans. Last year, former Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said that the inaugural collection “merges the emblems of the House with those of the iconic sportswear brand.”
