Late last month, Ben Affleck announced he would be hanging up his Batman cape and so, the last four weeks have been teeming with reports over the actor to fill Bruce Wayne’s shoes – or rather, wings. Now, after a slew of ongoing speculations that Armie Hammer could be next, the actor has addressed the rumours head on.

According to an article published by Revenge of the Fans, the 32-year-old was said to be in final talks with the creators for Matt Reeves’ standalone Batman film, slated for release in 2021. But now, we’re not so sure.

Personally addressing the report, Hammer told Yahoo UK: “No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I’m interested. I don’t even know if they are done—they are still working on a script,” he said. “I don’t think that they are close to production but I can conclusively tell you that no one has checked my availability, which is a bummer.”

While the actor is a favourite for the role, other potential candidates also include the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Pattinson and Ryan Gosling. Stay tuned for further developments.
