The age of social media is fickle. Two months ago, when Chris Evans posted a farewell tweet to Marvel Cinematic Universe and his alter-ego Captain America after his final day of shooting “Avengers 4“, the world had assumed that the infamous super hero was dead and buried. Back in May, The New York Times had also confirmed rumours over his eventual departure.

While many fans mourned the end of a much loved hero, new reports have suggested otherwise. In a new article published by Associated Press, an “Avengers 4” director let it slip that he *may* still live on. Joe Russo and his brother and fellow director, said these past statements are not quite right.

“I think it was more emotional for him than us,” Russo said. “Only because he’s not done yet. And I don’t want to explain what that means but the audience will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Since the varying reports, fan theories and forums have run rampant with many suggesting that while Chris Evan will step away from the shield, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes and Anthony Mackie’s Falcon is a worthy replacement. What do you think? Could C.A. morph into a new identity?

More details surrounding “Avengers 4” have also surfaced, with the run time set to be three hours long. The new film is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
