It’s been over a week since Banksy’s The Girl and the Balloon went to auction, consequently ending with shredding half the work. What was a shock and surprise to everyone at the event and the public watching the aftermath, was actually a well thought-out plan gone wrong. The elusive and anonymous street artist took to Youtube at a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what went wrong.

Entitled “Shred the Love – the Director’s half cut”, the video depicts the creation and construction of the very frame that shredded the famous work. Further on, it appears that Banksy himself attended the auction, showing the very moment he hit the remote to begin destruction. While we all know it stopped halfway through, now leaving it more than double its original worth… but the original plan was very different.

Tune into the video below for what should have happened.
