SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: In the early 1900s, the Surrey Hotel on Castlereagh Street in Sydney stood tall; a four-storied rendered sandstone building with an elaborate parapet up top. Trams would come and go with pub patrons stopping off for a drink.

One hundred and sixty years later, this strip of road is the mecca of Sydney’s luxury quarter, and the iconic hotel now transformed into a contemporary home for Dior’s legendary elegance and timeless modernity. Inside, the ready-to-wear collections for women and men hem its perimeters, along with leather goods, accessories, homewares, fine jewellery and timepieces.

Soaring ceilings are decorated with artworks by acclaimed international artists (read: Christina Watka and Claire de Chavagnac Brugnon) to reflect Monsieur Dior’s background as a gallerist and collector.

Two VIP salons have their own dedicated floors to provide clients the ultimate luxury experience. For the GRAZIA reader, we need to tell you about a little nook in store dedicated to personalising your Lady Diors and Saddle bags.

New collections snake around the walls, each with its own unique texture. It’s a detail that’s been so delicately done that it adds to the experience of the clothing. A sneaker have dominates one end of the room.
