Kim Jones is continuing his tour of the world with his new Dior Men’s Spring 2023 Collection scheduled to take place in LA on May 19 at 8pm Los Angeles time. (Which makes it a handy 1pm, Friday May 20 right here on the Eastern Seaboard of Australia.)
While venue and location have yet to be revealed, the choice of LA, by extension the US, is one that has significant meaning for the House of Dior, going all the way back to its founder Christian Dior when “the New Look set out to conquer the world, and America was first to succumb, igniting a friendship that has continued to grow ever since.”
Last year, for his Pre-Fall 2022 collection, Jones took the brand to his hometown of London and earlier this year models walked against a life-size copy of Pont Alexandre III inside of a tent on the Place de la Concorde. This sense of adventure is a reminder of the reality that clothing does, and must, travel – the world is the real runway and it is on the streets, alleys, lanes of cities that they find their true home.
