Things just keep getting worse for rapper Travis Scott with French fashion giant Dior now officially pulling the plug indefinitely on the much-anticipated collaboration with the rapper’s Cactus Jack brand.

In a statement made to WWD, Dior explained their decision was influenced by the fatal events of Scott’s recent Astroworld performance that saw ten people die and dozens hospitalised.

Travis Scott is at the centre of a cancellation storm.

“Out of respect for everyone affected by the tragic events at Astroworld, Dior has decided to postpone indefinitely the launch of products from the Cactus Jack collaboration originally intended to be included in its summer 2022 collection.”

It’s just one more blow to the artist in a revolving door of cancellations that’s almost becoming dizzying to watch.

This far Scott has been dropped from the Coachella line-up and had his Cacti hard seltzer pulled from shelves. Other collaborations with major brands Nike, BAPE and Hot Wheels have also been paused.

There has been significant scrutiny surrounding Scott’s involvement – or lack of, in some arguments – in the tragic events that occurred during his performance at Astroworld back in November of this year.

While the rapper claimed he was unable to see what or wasn’t aware of what was happening in the crowds, footage on Twitter and Instagram shows attendees of the concert attempting to warn managers and security that people were being injured.

The Dior x Cactus Jack show was revealed during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year and, it’s safe to assume, was ready to hit the shelves for the season before the announcement was made.

What will actually happen to the range – which included an array of coveted sneakers and luxury apparel featuring hyped motifs – remains to be seen.

According to Hypebeast, the decision to delay was a mutual one between Dior and Scott to postpone the drop in January 2022 but both parties were still in discussion about releasing it at a later date.
