Elon Musk is at it again. But this time, it’s not with Tesla, SpaceX or his controversial friendship with Kanye West. No, Musk is planning for game-changing technology with his latest technology venture, Neuralink. As the name suggests and alluded to on Twitter, Musk and his start up are developing neural linking chips that use technology to assist in controlling certain parts of brain function.

Musk said in a Tweet that Neuralink “could help control hormone levels and use them to our advantage (enhanced abilities and reasoning, anxiety relief, etc.),” and provide simple functions like “listen[ing] to music directly from our chips.” The entrepreneur also answered questions on the technology via Twitter, teasing that the first port of call would be “helping with dire brain injuries” for human trials. More details are expected to come on August 28 according to Musk.

The ‘chip’ has been described as a “flexible” thread that will be weaved into a person’s brain matter using a “sewing machine-like device”.

The initial announcement was made in 2019, however this is the first additional information we have been given since. Monkey’s are expected to be used in the first trials with human trials to begin at a later date.

This is speculative and based on little information Musk has provided. Stay tuned for August 28, when he is expected to reveal further information.
