In what can only be described as an interview to plug how great his son-in-law Chris Pratt is, Arnold Schwarzenegger has opened up about the moment he knew Pratt was good enough for his daughter Katherine.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel amid the release of his new film Terminator: Dark Fate, Schwarzenegger said he “blown away” when his daughter first told him she was dating the Guardians Of The Galaxy action star. “I was saying, ‘Do you have to be so competitive?’” recalled Schwarzenegger. “‘Do you have to have a guy that is taller than me, that is bigger than me, that’s doing bigger movies than me and all of this kind of stuff, that makes more money than me?’”

But how do you win the approval of the man known as “The Austrian Oak” and a bodybuilding prodigy who won the 1967 NABBA Amateur Mr. Universe title at the age of 20? Well, for Pratt, the approval process began in the gym. “Pumping iron was the decision-making factor,” said Schwarzenegger. “He’s a strong guy, there’s no two ways about it, and I’m very proud of him. When I watched him make these moves in the gym, you know, the incline press specifically did it. Why I wanted him to become my son-in-law. It was the incline press.”

“[Chris] is such a great guy,” he continued. “Not only very talented guy and a great actor and a great star and all this stuff but a really kind man and kind to my daughter, which is the most important thing for me.”
