As a former bodybuilder and powerlifter, it’s hard to believe the audacity of anyone who thinks they can come up against the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Overnight, 71-year-old Schwarzenegger was attending his namesake Arnold Classic sporting event in Johannesburg in South Africa, when he was attacked from behind. Bearing the brunt of a flying dropkick, though it would appear to have been painful, the Terminator walked away unscathed and unfazed. While he was reportedly “just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot”, the accused was tackled before being taken away screaming by security.

On Twitter, footage surfaced of the incident and before the internet was quick to act, Schwarzenegger created the perfect response.

“Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot,” he tweeted.” I only realised I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.”

He continued, “We have 90 sports here in South Africa at the @ArnoldSports, and 24,000 athletes of all ages and abilities inspiring all of us to get off the couch. Let’s put this spotlight on them.”

The Arnold Classic takes to Africa each May and showcases sporting events and competitions such as bodybuilding and combat sports, open to all abilities.

The philanthropist has said he will not press charges.
