Perched at the bar, the murmur of conversations around me blended into a soothing hum. I glanced at the menu, my eyes settling on something new – La Nueva Moda. Intrigued, I beckoned the bartender over. “I’ll try the La Nueva Moda,” I said, “but I’m curious about how it’s made.”
The bartender smiled, ready to craft the cocktail. “It starts with Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami,” he began, pouring the whisky with practised precision. “Then, we add Mezcal for a touch of smokiness.” The clear liquid swirled into the glass, merging with the whisky. “Next, the Solerno for a hint of citrus sweetness,” he continued, his movements fluid and assured.
“Don’t forget the bitters,” I chimed in, intrigued by the recipe.
“Of course,” he replied, adding two dashes each of orange and cherry bitters. The cocktail’s aroma deepened, becoming more inviting.
“And the egg white for smoothness,” I added.
With a nod, he expertly whisked in the egg white, the mixture frothing up. “And finally,” he concluded, grating frozen cherry dust over the drink, “a touch of flair.”
As he slid the glass towards me, the layers of flavour promised a journey akin to the evolution of taste itself, La Nueva Moda.
