The people at Dior are clearly very happy with how things are going with Johnny Depp as the face of their best-selling men’s fragrance, Dior Sauvage. The French maison’s beauty arm has just extended the actor’s contract as ambassador for the scent for an alleged US $20 million ($30,088,760 in Australian dollars to be precise.)

The three year deal puts Depp at the apex of men’s beauty campaigns, making it one of the most lucrative in the industry including eclipsing fellow Dior ambassador Robert Pattinson’s US$12 million to be the face of Dior Homme; Brad Pitt’s unforgettable outing as a Chanel No. 5 man for US$7 million.

The original Dior Sauvage by François Demarchy back in 2015, an EDT that used two types of peppers with sweet lavender, lots of bright bergamot softened by vetiver and patchouli. Since then, multiple concentrations and flankers have been released to appease various tastes. And Depp has been a mainstay for the scent since the get go.

During 2022 sales for the fragrance sky-rocketed with one report saying that in 2022 a bottle of Sauvage was allegedly sold every three seconds.

CEO of LVMH, the parent company behind Dior, Bernard Arnault has even stated that Depp is one of the primary reasons for the success of the fragrance.

The extended contract is timely as Depp heads to Canne Film Festival in Venice where his new film, historical drama Jeanne du Barry, in which he plays King Louis XV, will have its world premier. The film will mark his first major release since the court case with Amber Heard.
