The Matrix franchise has a wide spanning and passionate fan base from its early inception in 1999, and since the rise of love for nostalgia and beloved film reboots, it is seeing a fourth instalment, 20 years later. Rumours have filled the media sphere in recent months regarding its director and the suggestion that Michael B. Jordan would join the cast and while for now its hear say, we can confirm the return of two OG characters.

Fronted by the famed Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, the iconic duo will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporterone part of the original creators Lana Wachowski will also be directing, producing and co-writing the screenplay for the upcoming film without her sister, Lilly. This comes after differing reports that confirmed the two sisters would not be apart of ‘The Matrix 4’.

“Many of the ideas Lilly [Wachowski, Lana’s sister] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” Wachowski told the publication. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

The report has also confirmed that Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow will distribute the film. We expect production to start shortly so stay tuned for updates.
