To celebrate the launch of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, luxury brand Louis Vuitton has launched their limited edition FIFA World Cup Collection of leather accessories.

The exclusive, five-piece capsule pays homage to the passion of soccer (football, if you’re from anywhere other than Australia), taking into account throughout each design sport-inspired treatments, athletic silhouettes and referential detailing.

Iconic creations such as the City Keepall bag and Keepall 50 have been reimagined for the capsule collection, finished in a black Taurillon leather for a modern yet classic look to create the perfect travelling companion. Or daily essential carry-all.

Celebrating the spirit of the FIFA World Cup are the smaller details, including a leather tag in the shape of a soccer league badge, the “Louis Vuitton” logo stamped in white and a tone-on-tone LV signature set amid the mesh. On the bottom of the Keepall 50, five protective studs reminiscent of cleats on football boots protect and elevate the bag’s base.

The familiar Damier motif of the French Maison is warped across the surface of the bags to create a more fluid, athletic texture that resembles the movement of the net when a goal is scored.

Basically, if you were on the market for a new gym bag, now’s the time to invest.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 Collection continues a tradition that first began back in 2018 when Louis Vuitton launched the inaugural leather goods capsule in anticipation for the sporting event. It was a collection that cemented a pre-existing relationship, starting back even earlier in 2010 when Louis Vuitton began providing the travel trunk that would contain the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

As they say, there’s no such thing as coincidence as this month Louis Vuitton also revealed a new campaign starring two of football’s biggest legends: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lensed by an equally legendary name, Annie Leibovitz, the new campaign called “Victory is a State of Mind” features Messi and Ronaldo go head to head in a very different kind of game: chess. But instead of a traditional chess board, the sport stars are competing on the Damier-designed surface of a piece of Louis Vuitton luggage. Functional to a fault.

The shoot is a generational call-back to one done previously by Leibovitz back in 2010, then featuring Pele, Maradona and Zinedine Zidane.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Collection will be available online and at Louis Vuitton boutiques.
