Quarantine has been a challenging time for all. We’ve been cooped up in our homes with the time we finally asked for when we were busy. And unless equipped with a laptop and work you could actually do from home, the days soon became long after ticking off everything on the to-do list – or perhaps procrastinating from that said, list – I won’t judge. For our creatives that relied on collaborative work and offices more reminiscent to staged sets, the future of the industry was uncertain and that was why an influx of wholesome content from Hollywood’s favourite begun flooding our social media feed.

There was cocktail-making, book club, cooking and celebrity interviews. But what I’ve found most enlightening in recent days – I understand I’m about 16 weeks late to the party – is Matthew McConaughey’s Instagram treasure trove. How on earth did I miss this?!

His most recent post came from just three days ago when, reminiscent to the time Cardi B interviewed Bernie Sanders on Instagram Live, McConaughey hopped on a candid call with Immunologist and national COVID-19 expert, Anthony Fauci. Across 41 minutes, the influential duo speak on wearing a mask, the effect of COVID-19 on different blood types and a number of your burning questions on the precarious topic.

Nine weeks ago during the height of the Black Lives Matter protests in the U.S., the actor and father of three appeared on an IG TV interview, Uncomfortable Conversations With A Black Man, with Emmanuel Acho. The purpose of these videos, according to Acho, is to create dialogue between one another with McConaughey importantly posing the question, “How can I do better as a man?”.

For the movie buffs out there, Matthew McConaughey created a series during his time in lockdown dubbed McConaughey Takes, where the Interstellar star reflects on his old films. He gives us insight into the behind-the-scenes of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Wedding Planner, Magic Mike and Mud.
