In what is one of the coolest collaborations of 2023 thus far, luxury German travel brand RIMOWA has partnered with the London-based skateboarding and clothing company PALACE in what is a debut collection the two (unlikely) brands, who find common ground in their appreciation for daring designs.
Presented in the exclusive collab is a limited-edition suitcase, a skateboard deck and a sticker set that combine Rimowa’s German engineering with the new-age approach to fashion and streetwear that Palace is synonymous for.
Rimowa highlights its technical expertise by introducing the Original Cabin Desert suitcase, which has been designed by Palace artists in a hand-airbrushed aesthetic to feature a dystopic desert landscape against the backdrop of its famed aluminium. The artwork also depicts a nomadic figure walking towards a chrome monolith, appearing to be watched over by a sand sculpture of a woman. This detailed inscription was achieved by the use of Rimowa’s mastery of digital printing. Made in Cologne, Germany, the special-edition piece is available in extremely limited quantities with only 500 models produced.
Next in the collection, you’ll find the Palace x Rimowa skateboard deck that was designed to celebrate “the spirit of mobility”. It’s also the type of skateboard you’d be thrilled to carry everywhere with you. The deck features a rendition of the artwork seen on the suitcase, as well as the two brands’ names imprinted throughout. Last but not least is the Palace x Rimowa Sticker Set, a whimiscal creative accessory that contains the iconic Palace logos with a Rimowa twist.
Rimowa chief marketing officer Emelie De Vitis said the collaboration came about because both brands like to “push the status quo, sometimes in unconventional ways.”
“This collaboration is an expression of this way of thinking, where a Rimowa suitcase is a canvas to a bold artistic vision,” she said.
The Rimowa x Palace limited edition collection will be available From February 10th, 2023 at Rimowa stores worldwide and online at rimowa.com. In addition, the pieces will also be available at Palace Flagship stores worldwide, Dover Street Market London & Los Angeles, as well as online at Palaceskateboards.com.
